DA Hanekom Langrug Malbec 2018

Langrug Malbec bears the name of the family farm of the Van Schalkwyk family. The dry, rugged plains, gently meandering river courses and beautiful sunsets in the Karoo were the inspiration for the name of this cheeky red wine. The more than 100 synonyms for this grape testify to its great age and wide distribution. The Malbec grapes come from fifteen-year-old trellised vineyards on the northern slopes of Durbanville. The cool growing conditions ensure a long growing season and slow ripening, resulting in outstanding varietal flavours. The wine was matured for eighteen months in French oak barrels.

The wine is a deep purple, almost black colour and has aromas of black fruit, cigar box and roasted notes. A hint of caramel, plums and spice as well as an elegant, long-lasting finish complete this flavour experience.
