Exclusive grapes from a vineyard near Cape Town

The grapes are grown and harvested on a small farm on the outskirts of Bottelary in Stellenbosch. The wine-growing region lies between Cape Town, Paarl and False Bay. It is famous for the production of full-bodied red wines, sparkling white wines and exquisite rosés. 

The small boutique winery Rosendal is the home of Barony August. Together with winemaker Therese de Beer, the owners have been producing award-winning white wines, red wines and rosés since 2004. The range includes garage wines and manageable bottling quantities. Numerous Rosendal wines have received the most important South African prizes, medals and awards. 

2019 - the best conditions for an outstanding vintage

Thanks to the weather conditions in 2018/2019 with a rainy winter, the vintage produced smaller, flavourful grapes. The cool air that blows over the south and south-west facing vineyards from nearby False Bay in the evening also helps to cool down the summer heat and ensures a balanced acidity level in the grapes. 

A well-aged red wine from the Cape Town region

The 2019 Barony August from Rosendal is stored and matured in new and old oak barrels from France to keep the tannin content in balance and round it off smoothly. The bottling quantity of the 2019 vintage is 6,612 bottles. This boutique wine from near Cape Town is an excellent accompaniment to hearty meat dishes, such as steak or game goulash, and is a good companion for cosy winter evenings by the fire.
