Rosendal Reserve Blue Mountain 2016

A red wine with a deep, mysterious colour. The grapes for the Reserve Blue Mountain come from a vineyard on the edge of the Bottelary growing area in Stellenbosch. As the vineyards face south and south-west, they offer protection from the summer afternoon heat. A cool evening breeze from False Bay emphasises the cooling effect. The four different grape varieties were harvested in the early hours of the morning and vinified separately. Ageing took place in French oak barrels, using a blend of 1st to 3rd fill barrels to ensure mild wood integration. The wines were aged for 18 months and blended before bottling.

The result is a delicate red wine with a hint of ripe blackcurrant, infused with coffee beans and tobacco leaves and a plummy palate with hints of dark chocolate.
