Every year I, Monika Schmitz-Rohwedder, return to the picturesque Klein Welmoed wine estate in Stellenbosch, a place that has grown close to my heart. With every visit, my connection to the lively children who grow up there deepens. This year was particularly touching when each child dedicated a poem to me, an expression of their creativity and gratitude that touched me deeply.

Bringing clothes from Germany for the children has become a ritual that is accompanied by beaming faces and warm hugs every year. It is these small gestures that build a bridge of friendship and sharing between us.

The conversations with the children about their professional dreams and ambitions were particularly inspiring this year. Their dreams are as varied as they are and are a testament to their eagerness and determination to achieve their goals.

The conclusion of my visit will be the wine tasting, an event that celebrates the excellence of Klein Welmoed wines. This event will not only be a feast for the senses, but also a symbol of the deep connection we celebrate every year.
