La Brune Chardonnay: a white wine from Cape Town that awakens longings

The La Brune Range Chardonnay 2020 tastes like the landscape it comes from: fresh, fruity and tangy. No wonder! The home of this South African white wine is a fertile high plateau with fruit plantations, less than 70 kilometres from Cape Town and just 20 kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean. Citrus fruits not only characterise the aroma of the Chardonnay from Elgin, the wine also exudes the delicate scent of orange and citrus peel. The mineral-rich soil on which the grapes thrive shimmers through in nuances and its golden yellow appearance is reminiscent of the sunshine that the wines from this region of South Africa soak up. The Chardonnay grapes grow 350 metres above sea level on the La Brune vineyard owned by winemaker Nico Grobler. The white wine matures for 14 months in oak barrels, the wood for which comes from the Pierre du Bourgogne forest and which were personally crafted by Nico Grobler and his French winemaker friend Bruno Lorenzon.

From Burgundy to South Africa - White wine, 100% Chardonnay

The roots of La Brune Range Chardonnay 2020 lie in France. Nico Grobler's love of Burgundy is reflected in every sip of this fine white wine. Ever since the South African gained experience in the French wine-growing region and made lifelong friends there, the secrets of French winemaking have characterised the boutique wines from the Elgin Valley. With success: in addition to its exquisite white wines, the family business produces red wines of the Pinot Noir variety under the La Brune brand. Rosé has so far only been part of the second house brand, The Valley. Nico Grobler only produced 300 boxes of 6 bottles of his favourite French white wine. The small bottling quantity makes the La Brune Range Chardonnay 2020 a much sought-after sip that South African wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts from all over the world love to savour.

A South African country wine that more than enchants

The French like to drink their Chardonnay as an aperitif, while connoisseurs from Cape Town and the surrounding area prefer the white wine from Elgin as a sundowner. La Brune Range Chardonnay 2020 is suitable for light summer cuisine. The white wine is an excellent accompaniment to poultry, seafood, cheese and baguettes as well as quiche with summer salad and light fish dishes.
