Vinification: Barrique

The grapes for the Shiraz were harvested in the early hours of the morning from the foothills of the Helderberg mountains and are picked by hand. The maritime climate here ensures warm, sunny days that are cooled by the sea breeze in the afternoon. The Grenache was harvested in the Simonsberg in Paarl, where the slate soils ensure strong and healthy vines. Both varieties were vinified separately and aged in French oak barrels, using a blend of 1st to 3rd fill barrels to ensure mild wood integration. After a beauty sleep of around 14 to 18 months, they were then ready for bottling.

This juicy blend for this red wine blend seduces the senses with its bright red lustre and hints of red berries and warm spices. The serious character of the Shiraz blends perfectly with the playfulness of the Grenache. The flavours of ripe plums and a hint of coffee result in a wine with a lively yet generous palate. The finish is wonderfully smooth with volume and a surprising length.
