Wines from South Africa by DA Hanekom

"He who can savour no longer drinks wine, but tastes secrets" (Salvador Dali). Andri Hanekom and his wife Yvette identify with this quote. They create special rarities under the independent label "D.A. Hanekom Familie Wyne". What began as a hobby quickly developed into a passion and the Hanekom couple now produce top-class wines.

After Andri was honoured at the renowned Institute for Agricultural Training After studying agriculture in Elsenburg, specialising in plant production, he began his professional career at Delheim Wines. It was here that he discovered his passion for wine. He then produced the first three vintages in his new role as winemaker for the Cathedral Peak Wine Estate in the Drakensberg in KwaZulu-Natal on 30 hectares. In the following years, he experimented with different wine styles and started his own small wine brand.

D.A. Hanekom Wyne family

The Hanekom couple have been working as independent wine producers since 2016. These independent wine producers are also known as Boutique Wineries (boutique wine cellar) and associates them with smaller, artisanal productions and passionate winemakers who create exclusive wines of the highest quality. Andri and Yvette succeed in doing just that, presenting their wines as a combination of a respectful embodiment of the Terroir of the vineyards where the grapes grow and the hard work of the people who look after the vines and the wine.

Their first two wines are therefore also a tribute to their families, who both have an agricultural background, and to the farm Putfontein in the Karoo, where they often spent their holidays together.
