Wine Tasting at Wildehurst

After a lovely welcome from Sheree, the winemaker, it was finally time for the wine tasting at Wildehurst. Wildehurst, a really great little boutique winery, is a member of the Swartland Wine & Olive Route, an association of several wineries and olive growers in the region. The total production is just under 16,000 bottles a year, with all grapes harvested by hand. Sheree now showed us her realm: the production, the storage rooms and the tasting room.

We were presented with Methode' Cap Classique (MCC), various red wines, white wines and of course a first-class rosé. The wines and the MCC, which are exceptional in flavour, win various awards almost every year, for example from Platter's South African Wine Guide, Tim Atkin, Veritas etc. Simply great, unique wines and MCCs. Simply great, unique wines and MCCs. It is quite impressive what this small crew has achieved.
can put together.

A garage wine with a future

Suddenly, Sheree handed her presentation to Wim. Wim Smit from Hofstraat Kelder Renosterbos.

The Hofstraat Kelder Renosterbos winery near Malmesbury is a pure garage winery. A garage winery is a winery that has a very small production. The entire stock fits into a double garage, so to speak. The quality standards are therefore very high and only top grapes are processed.

Wim's red wines are outstanding, a real treat. Simply fantastic. We were able to see for ourselves on site and placed an order straight away, as stock is scarce. Wim had to put us off for a while, as the Hofstraat Kelder Renosterbos 2018 still had to be fully labelled. He first presented us with a hand-signed bottle. That's typical Africa! That's why we love this wonderful country with its uncomplicated, endearing and individual people. Try these Garage wines, the pure Carbernet Sauvignon and the typical Pinotage from South Africa.
