Bloemendal Waterlily Shiraz 2017

The Shiraz grape was brought from the Middle East to Europe and from there to the New World as early as the Middle Ages. It is considered to be extremely robust and less susceptible to most plant diseases. The vines for this full-bodied red wine grow on the middle slopes of the Tierberg mountain range. The grapes are harvested by hand and soaked in cold water for 48 hours before the fermentation process begins in open vats.

This is followed by bottling in oak barrels. After 18 months of storage and maturation, bottling begins. A typical, full-bodied Shiraz, with aromas of white pepper and savoury spices.

The classic accompaniment to savoury dishes on cold winter evenings.
